About the authoR
My name is Matt Cavanaugh a.k.a “Cavi”. I’ve been in the 8-5 workforce for just about 20 years, and I also like to write science fiction. I have always been fascinated by epic adventures portrayed in the written word as well as film, and since my teenage years, I’ve always felt the need to write. I find there is something fundamentally satisfying and actualizing to get my thoughts down in print, and when I don’t write for a few days, I feel a burning need to get back after it.
Now in my early 40’s, I find myself looking back and wishing I would have just sat down to write my ideas years ago. Maybe I would have been able to start my first series back then, but a part of me think that perhaps I did need to wait. I think us humans, including writers, are a sum of our life experiences, and I simply needed to have more of them to pair with my imagination to put the start of this series to paper. Every character’s line, the overall scenery, the science fictions constructs, and my perception of how you will feel reading these works, required time on this planet.
On those experiences, I began to enjoy telling stories as a junior high student, and upon arriving at high school, I received three years of great English classes from three excellent teachers. My favorite teacher was the one from Senior year, who confronted me after being accepted to Engineering School, and implored me to drop it and become a writer. Well, after 20+ years Mr. Bauer, my early writing career, which I hope will be successful, is a tribute, in part, to you.
After working as a waiter at an Italian banquette hall and amusement park attendant in high school. I worked college summer-internships at a truck factory in Pontiac Michigan. While in college, I was part of the marching band, and went from a trombone player, to a rank leader, and on to Drum Major, all performing in front of more than one hundred thousand people every Fall Saturday. After graduating, the rest of my professional career was a bit of a “quest to pay off student loans” adventure. I jumped around a lot, following the opportunities from Michigan to Minnesota, to New York, to Massachusetts, to Maryland, to Colorado, and on to Virginia, with some adventures in Southeast and East Asia along the way. The incredible people I met, friends I made, ups and downs I had, including growth experiences, all have formed the basis for what I am able to contribute as a writer.
Today, I am a full-time dad to young children as well as a full-time 8-5 professional, and I need to choose where I spend my time wisely. For the time being, I will spend the time I have on the Eartherians Series, and learn as much as I can about being a good writer and author while on that journey.
Thank you so very much for spending some of your time with me on this journey. I sincerely hope that these works provide you, the readers, with joy, imagination, and some fun.
At Your Service.
